If you happen to be in Alberta and are looking for a last minute deal, ATB is still offering 3.50% on its 5-year fixed Extreme Discount Mortgage. It comes with 20% lump-sum prepayment privileges (pre-payments can be made any time during the calendar year) and 20% annual payment increase options.

I have a variable mortgage that’s prime plus .25 (approx), but I’ve been wondering if I should lock.

Also, curious, what do you think prompted this quick turn-around into the fixed market? People finally giving into the jitters?
I heard ATB gave some brokers access to this 3.50% rate and not others. Lenders who show favouritism deserve no loyalty and are the last place I’d send my business.
